East and West Sussex Liberal Democrat MPs marked the day in Westminster by gathering with Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle.
Chichester MP Jess Brown-Fuller said: “Sussex Day is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on just how special this county is.
“Chichester sits at the heart of Sussex’s history: from St Richard’s shrine in our magnificent cathedral, to the Roman walls that still line our city streets.”
Sussex Day, held each year on June 16, celebrates the culture and identity of the historic county on the feast day of St Richard, the 13th-century Bishop of Chichester.
Eastbourne MP Josh Babarinde said: “Whether it’s Bonfire, Stoolball or a pint of Harvey’s, Sussex has so much to be proud of.”
The celebrations followed the recent West Sussex County Council elections, where Liberal Democrats secured 23 seats.
