Free-agent defender Max Clark is the latest of Gillingham’s released players to seek the PFA’s help in finding a new club.
Clark was among the senior players let go by the Gills at the end of a disappointing 2025/26 season.

The left-back has now joined week two of the Professional Footballers’ Association’s pre-season training camp.
Clark, 30, spent three seasons with the Gills and made more than 100 league appearances during his stay. He arrived after winning promotion from League Two with Stevenage.
A popular figure in the dressing room, Clark collected the coveted Players’ Player of the Year award at the end of last season but was part of manager Gareth Ainsworth’s post-season clear-out.
The Gills are yet to announce a replacement for Clark at left-back.
Forty free agents are involved in the PFA’s week two camp and Clark will not be short of familiar faces, with some players remaining from week one.
Goalkeeper Jake Turner, midfielder Jonny Williams and winger Aaron Rowe all remain in camp after being released by the Gills.
Former Gills striker Tom Eaves – a big hit during his previous spell at Priestfield – is also among the week two attendees, staying at the Champneys Springs resort in Leicestershire.
The former Gills players – which also includes one-time loan striker John Marquis – will be involved in Wednesday’s first PFA pre-season friendly when they face a French free-agents side at Leicester City’s training ground.
More than 150 free agents are expected to attend the PFA camp over a 12-week period as they look to secure new clubs.
Williams said of the first few days in camp: “It’s been really good, intense, a good standard, good to meet some of the boys and the sessions are really good – I’m glad to be here.”
