The Light Up Crawley Festival, organised by Crawley Borough Council, will take place in the town centre on February 28 and March 1.

The event will run from 6pm to 10pm on both days and will offer free, family-friendly cultural experiences.

The festival will feature interactive light art and performances, transforming public spaces into vibrant hubs of creativity.

The festival will include a number of installations and performances.

Same Sky, an arts charity, will create an installation of willow and tissue sculptures, lights, and sound inspired by the end of winter and the coming of spring.

This will feature a community lantern-lit parade with a salsa band.

An interactive installation called “An Obscure Camera” by Flexer and Sandiland will be displayed in an empty shop in County Mall.

This thought-provoking installation will explore the consequences of everyday actions in public spaces.

Visitors will be able to enter a large dark space and be immersed in a multitude of ornate rococo frames projected onto the surrounding walls and ceiling.

“The Electric Grand Bug Hotel” by Make Amplify will be a fun, interactive light installation for the entire family.

This will be a larger-than-life, light-up colouring book that animates and amplifies a local landmark, created by the public.

Seb Lee-Delisle, a BAFTA-winning laser artist, will present Polaris, a dazzling immersive laser light display set to original music.

St John’s Church will be filled with state-of-the-art lasers and lighting, along with a high-fidelity sound system with an original score written and recorded by the artist using 1980s synthesizers.

A street-theatre performance called Sparks! by LED Drummers will parade through the town centre on March 1 from 5.30pm.

Gavin Morris will create a digital funfair in Queens Way, featuring dazzling interactive light installations designed to encourage collaborative play and control of the urban environment.

These include Light-Hearted, a giant LED heart which lights up when two or more people hold hands, and The LED Curtain, a giant scrolling message board with a nearby keyboard which allows visitors to type messages onto the display.

A number of other performances and installations will also be on show.
