Snow Patrol star Gary Lightbody said Glasgow “feels like home” during the band’s spectacular Hydro show on Friday night.
The Northern Irish singer even teased that the moment the band arrived in the city in the torrential rain, they knew they were in Glasgow.
The 49-year-old said: “We haven’t had much rain on this tour for the last month.
“Then we got into town yesterday and thought, oh yes this is f**ing Glasgow.
“It was beautiful, it was like being baptised.”

The weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the thousands of fans, however, who turned up in their thousands to see the show at the Finnieston venue – and Snow Patrol didn’t disappoint.
Kicking off their set with Take Back the City, Chocolate, and Called Out in the Dark, Lightbody then had a moment of embarrassment as he forgot the lyrics to Crack the Shutters.
But the showman laughed it off admitting the error before he thanked the crowd.
Then it was time for the hit they wrote in this city 25 years ago, Run.
Lightbody dedicated the beautiful ballad to Glasgow and it was a moment to remember as the arena lit up with mobile phone lights without prompting.
A sheer curtain fell to cover the band and shimmery lights took over while they performed The Lightening Strikes which looked and sounded incredible.
Open Your Eyes taken from the 2006 album Eyes Open had the crowd singing the chorus in unison.

And this track was even more impressive live when Lightbody revealed bandmate Johnny McDaid got his hand trapped on a train door during the tour. The musician, who plays piano, guitar, and keyboards, had surgery on it and performed on the same day straight after, and has continued to play throughout the tour.
Had he not told the story, the crowd would have been none the wiser with the band’s musicianship sounding as good as ever.

Chasing Cars set the tone for what Glasgow fans can expect when the band returns to the city to play TRNSMT this summer.
Lightbody’s vocals were on point for the anthem which lifted the atmosphere in the arena before they rounded off things in style with You’re All I Have and Just Say Yes.
Taken aback by the crowd, Lightbody then admitted: “For crying out loud Glasgow, you’ve done it again. Unbelievable!
“We have had an absolute ball because of you.”
