At around 12.35pm on Wednesday, December 4, cops were called to a report of a green Vauxhall Insignia having crashed in the Carntyne Road area of the East End.

Emergency crews raced to the area. However, sadly the driver of the motor, a 59-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family have since been informed.

We previously reported how officers revealed no one else was injured during the collision.

Now, the force has said enquiries into the crash are ongoing. As part of their investigation, police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or may have dashcam footage which could assist with their enquiries, to get in touch.

Meanwhile, cops have also thanked the members of the public who stopped to help out before emergency services arrived at the crash.

Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“We will continue to support them throughout the investigation.

“We would like to thank the members of the public who stopped to help before emergency services arrived.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, and who has not already spoken to officers, to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was driving in this area around that time and who may have dashcam footage which could assist us to contact us.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 1607 of December 4, 2024.”
