Two Eastbourne lifeboats were dispatched to assist a yacht in Eastbourne Bay just before midday on Sunday. Upon arrival, two crew members boarded the vessel to evaluate the damage and check on the passengers, one of whom was experiencing severe seasickness.

With the mast and sail dragging in the water, the rescue team cut the mast free. The seasick passenger was brought aboard the lifeboat and taken to the station for observation.

The yacht was then escorted safely to Sovereign Harbour before the lifeboats were stood down.
