Huawei has introduced its new health monitoring system designed for its wearable devices. At a recent event in China, the tech giant unveiled the TruSense system, which promises “comprehensive and accurate” monitoring of over 60 health and fitness metrics.
The TruSense system utilizes a proprietary algorithm to evaluate various indicators, including emotional well-being and stress levels. Huawei has invested significantly in research across optical, electrical, and material sciences, working with over 150 partners to address challenges related to skin tones, wrist sizes, and environmental conditions affecting wearable health sensors.
While Huawei has not specified which products will feature TruSense, they are anticipated to launch in September.
MARKET SNAPSHOT
Huawei has been active in the wearable technology market for more than a decade, competing with global leaders like Apple, Google, and Samsung.
Recently, Apple faced two legal challenges concerning its smartwatch’s health features. In February, it won a case against AliveCor over its heart-monitoring technology but continues to contend with Masimo regarding a patent dispute related to blood oxygen monitoring.
Apple’s latest smartwatch, the Apple Watch Series 9, released in September of the previous year, includes a new 4-core Neural Engine for detecting minute movements and changes in blood flow.
In July, Samsung launched the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which features enhanced sensors for more accurate vital sign tracking, including sleep apnea detection.
Google’s latest release, the Pixel Watch 3, debuted in August with improved heart-sensing capabilities and a new pulse detection feature.
