History was made by the Kent Visually Impaired Squad openers against Yorkshire.
Tom Barton (128 runs from 63 balls) and Lee Robshaw (79 runs from 59 balls) carried their bats and claimed the highest opening partnership in Kent Visually Impaired history.
In a double-header at Southfleet CC, only two overs were played on the Saturday before the game had to be abandoned due to heavy downpours and thunderstorms, but the teams returned the following day where Kent claimed a 173-run victory – set up by captain Barton and Robshaw’s marvellous performance.
There was a pitch inspection on the Sunday after more heavy rain but the umpires declared it playable, reducing the overs to 51.
Barton lost the toss and Kent were put into bat on a quickly drying pitch.
Barton and Robshaw started batting freely and within eight overs Kent were 79-0. The high run rate continued and by the time drinks came around on the 14th over, Kent had scored 175-0.
Boundaries were flowing, 31 in total between the opening pair before Kent declared at the end of the 19th over for 235-0.
In reply, Yorkshire were 62 all out. Javid Patel was the pick of the Kent bowlers finishing with figures of 4-10 off three overs with useful contributions from Charlton Davis (2-3) and Luke Boulding (2-10).
