Southeast Asia has been home for more than twelve years and during that time we have experienced many of the finest luxury hotels and resorts in the region. We do not have our favourites, but there are individual properties and brands that for varying reasons ensure that we return. Anantara Hotels & Resorts is most certainly one of those brands. Whilst being firmly rooted in Thai hospitality they consistently manage to deliver authentic hospitality across Southeast Asia and beyond. They are committed to multiple sustainable practices, whether that is supporting the people and communities they work with, reducing single use…

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide and is one of the leading causes of kidney failure. As the disease progresses, many patients eventually need dialysis to survive. While current treatments can help slow damage, there are still no approved medications that directly restore kidney function. Researchers at Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine uncovered an unexpected possibility involving a drug that has long been used to treat constipation. In a clinical trial, the medication lubiprostone appeared to slow the decline of kidney function in patients with moderate CKD, raising hopes for an entirely new approach…

Pity the PJM Interconnection. For decades, the grid operator worked quietly and in the background, matching electricity demand with supply. Meanwhile, customers enjoyed some of the lowest electricity prices in the United States. No longer. Politicians, businesses, households, power companies think it needs an overhaul. Even PJM is in agreement. PJM released a white paper this week that said the region “has years, not decades” to make fundamental changes to the way it operates. “The current situation is not tenable,” PJM CEO David Mills wrote in a foreward to the report. Normally, this sort of wonky report would land on…

The head of Jeff Bezos’ family office has left the board of directors of Slate Auto, the electric vehicle startup backed by the Amazon founder, according to numerous state filings reviewed by TechCrunch. Regular internet users and corporations are not the only victims of malicious hackers. Sometimes, the hackers themselves get hacked. That is what happened in an unusual hacking campaign, where an unknown group of hackers targeted systems already compromised by a prolific cybercrime group known as TeamPCP. Once the hackers broke into those systems, they immediately kicked out TeamPCP hackers and removed their tools, according to a new report by cybersecurity firm SentinelOne.  From there, the hackers use their access to deploy code designed to replicate across different cloud infrastructure like a self-spreading worm, steal various types of credentials, and finally…

Tell Us About Yourself And Singulr AI   My name is Shiv Agarwal, and I’m the Co-Founder and CEO of Singulr AI. I’ve spent ~25 years working in cloud, networking, and security, focusing on how large enterprises operate and scale infrastructure. Earlier in my career, I co-founded Arkin, a data centre security and operations platform, which was later acquired by VMware, where I led part of the network security business.  One consistent pattern I’ve seen is that every major technology shift moves faster than an organisation’s ability to understand and control it. We are seeing that same pattern now with…
