Sussex Police said they were called shortly after 4.30pm on Friday, July 3, following concerns for the welfare of a woman in the vicinity of Adelaide Crescent, Hove.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
“Her death is being treated as unexplained but not suspicious, and this will now be a coronial matter,” a Sussex Police spokesman said.
Residents reported seeing multiple emergency services vehicles in the area and a police cordon.
