Kent Police were called at 5.40pm on Thursday, June 25, to the A2 at Darenth after reports of a four-vehicle crash.
Emergency services were at the scene alongside paramedics, where two people were treated for injuries.
A third person was taken to hospital.
Patrols remained at the scene until around 7.30pm.
During the incident, the crash brought traffic to a halt on the M25, causing miles of congestion for rush-hour commuters.
The collision caused gridlock to grow along the A2 Watling Street London-bound and the M25 at Junction 2.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 5.40pm on Thursday 25 June to the A2 at Darenth to reports of road traffic collision involving four vehicles.
“Officers attended, alongside paramedics, and two people were treated at the scene for injuries.
“A third person was taken to hospital.
“Patrols left the scene around 7.30pm.”
