Some people are taking drastic measures to escape the soaring temperatures across Kent.
Footage captures the moment a mum looked out her window to find her neighbours sleeping outside on the flat roof of their home in Deana Court, Gillingham.
Clare Miskin spotted the pair lying out beneath the sky with a makeshift campout of duvets and blankets on June 14.
Speaking over the video, the 51-year-old says: “Good morning, Gillingham. I’ve seen it all now.”
Laughing, she adds: “They must have been too hot to sleep indoors last night.”
Speaking to KentOnline, Clare said: “It was early morning [when I saw it] and I found it funny.
“I’d do it myself now in this heat but without the quilt,” she joked.
Despite the ongoing heat wave, the mum-of-five says she’s yet to see the pair sleep on the roof again.
The video, which she originally shared on TikTok, prompted others to share their impromptu sleeping arrangements in an attempt to escape the blistering heat.
One wrote: “My kids slept on the trampoline, great fun!”
Others shared pictures of a blow-up bed on a deck chair beneath a plastic outdoor canopy.
A rare red warning for extreme heat remains in place until 9pm today, with highs of 34C.
More than 10 schools are closed, travel warnings are in place and the ambulance service has declared a “critical incident” as Kent faces the final day of a red “extreme heat” warning.
