The upgrades include improvements at Robertson Park in Renfrew, Stuart Road in Bishopton, Campbell Street and Poplar Avenue in Johnstone, Ferguslie Gardens in Paisley, and a new outdoor gym at Lochwinnoch Public Park.
Primary three pupils from Kirklandneuk Primary School in Renfrew recently visited the revamped play area at Robertson Park.

Ayla, 8, said: “I really like the swing, it’s all amazing. I like coming to the park with my mum and friends.”
Harris, 8, said: “I love the swing under the pirate ship, I like sitting on it, it’s a lot of fun. I think I’ll be coming to the park more with my dad and brother over the summer.”
The upgraded play area, delivered by Kompan Scotland Ltd, includes a wheelchair-accessible carousel, a WeHopper seesaw, a gondola swing, pirate-themed toddler play units, sensory play panels, and a ‘Man-O’War’ multiplay unit built around the park’s concrete castle centrepiece.
These enhancements form part of Renfrewshire Council’s play park investment programme.
This additional funding aims to ensure that by 2029, all council-owned play parks in Renfrewshire will have been renewed or refurbished.

Since 2021, more than £5 million has been invested in more than 50 play parks and wheeled sports facilities across the region, funded by the council, the Scottish Government, and a small amount of community fundraising.
Earlier this year, Renfrewshire Council pledged a further £2.1 million over the next three years for play park renewals.
Councillor Jacqueline Cameron, convener of Renfrewshire Council’s Infrastructure, Land and Environment Policy Board, said: “It’s fantastic to see the transformation of Robertson Park play area and to see local children enjoying the new equipment.
“This project is a great example of how we are investing in our communities, creating modern, inclusive play spaces where children can play, learn and socialise in a safe and fun environment.
“I’m very proud of our investment in our play parks and the additional funding confirmed at this year’s budget over the next three years will ensure that every community benefits from high-quality, free play facilities.”

Community engagement has been central to the play park investment programme, with local residents invited to contribute ideas and feedback to ensure the equipment meets the needs of families in each area.
Further improvements are planned in the months ahead, including upgrades at KGV Playing Fields in Renfrew, a quiet play and seating area at Robertson Park, and new play areas in Linwood and Paisley.
Other works will include outdoor gym equipment at Poplar Avenue in Johnstone, BMX track improvements in Erskine, and a new pump track at Barshaw Park.
Public engagement is underway for future play park designs at sites including Fountain Gardens, Darkwood Crescent, Green Road in Paisley, Elderslie West (Old Road), Thomas Shanks Park in Johnstone, Lyle Crescent in Bishopton, and Millfield Meadows in Erskine.
