Residents and tourists hit Brighton Beach as heatwave continues

Thousands gathered along the seafront yesterday to cool off, with many taking a dip in the sea and relaxing on the pebbles.

Sussex is currently in its second day of an amber weather warning for extreme heat.

The weather in Brighton is forecast to peak at 36C this week.

In Haywards Heath and Crawley, the heat will peak at 37C.

An early closure has been announced at several Sussex schools due to the heat.

Amongst these are Heathfield College in East Sussex.

In West Sussex, Tanbridge House School and Forest School will also be closing early.
