Gillingham have ended their six-week search for a new assistant manager.
Steven Craig has been unveiled as boss Gareth Ainsworth’s new number two.
The 45-year-old joins after more than four years as part of the management team at Gala Fairydean Rovers in Scotland.
Craig’s playing career featured spells at Falkirk, Motherwell, Aberdeen, Livingston, Dundee, Ross County and Partick Thistle.
He also played under Ainsworth at Wycombe between 2013 and 2015, the striker scoring eight times in 70 appearances.
“I am delighted to get it done,” said Craig. “It came out of the blue. I got the call two or three weeks ago asking if I would be interested and it sort of snowballed from there.
“I can’t wait to get started. The chance to go back full-time with the Gaffer, Dobbo and Watesy was too good to turn down.”
Ainsworth’s trusted long-term assistant Richard Dobson moved into a new role as the club’s first technical director in mid-April.
