The club’s Chairman, Dom McInally, said in a statement: “It is with great sadness and disappointment that we can confirm that, as of today, Caledonian Locomotives Football Club has formally given notice to the WOSFL that we are unable to continue playing and will therefore be folding the club.
“This is a decision that has not been taken lightly and comes after a long period of extremely difficult challenges both on and off the park.
“After several difficult years of trying to cover the costs required for training and playing, and at times struggling to do so at all, the committee has made the difficult decision that we are unable to sustain another season of funding the club without sponsorship being secured.
“Despite everyone’s efforts to keep the club progressing, the financial demands involved in running the club have unfortunately become unsustainable without additional backing and support.
“To say that we are devastated to be making this statement would be an understatement. After several years filled with major achievements, the last two to three seasons have brought extremely difficult challenges for the club. After a great deal of consideration, we now feel that the time is right for both the club and the committee to bring to an end something that has become such a huge part of all our lives.
“We would also like to place on record our sincere thanks to the Junior FA League and the WOSFL for welcoming us as part of your football family throughout our time involved.
“A special thank you must go to all players, management, coaching staff, volunteers & supporters who have served and supported the club over the years. Your dedication, commitment and hard work have meant everything and will always be greatly appreciated. and lastly a huge thank you to all our sponsors who basically kept the club alive during difficult times, your help was always appreciated.
“Good luck to all the clubs going into season 26/27, and here’s hoping that the future of our great game, which we all love, is looked after and allowed to thrive so that our level of football can continue for decades to come.”
