The body was discovered on Rottingdean beach on the morning of Friday, May 29.

Sussex Police said: “The man has been formally identified as a 50-year-old man from Hertfordshire.

“His next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”

Officers have confirmed that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

Sussex Police said: “There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and the incident is being treated as unexplained at this time.

“Officers are investigating the wider circumstances and a report will be prepared for HM Coroner.”

A police presence remained on scene, with a cordon put in place to secure the area.

The incident comes just over two weeks since three women were recovered from the sea to the west of Brighton Marina.

The inquest into the deaths of Jane Adetoro, Christina Walters and Rebecca Walters opens this morning in Brighton.
