Thousands of people descended on the city’s seafront over the Bank Holiday weekend, and today (26 May) has been no different.
In July 2025, more than 24 tonnes of rubbish have been cleared from Brighton beach after soaring temperatures saw thousands flock to the seafront.

Eddie Mitchell, a photographer on the scene, said: “I am horrified.
“It’s mainly young people doing this – they are animals and I wouldn’t like to see what their houses look like.”

Mitchell described the litter on the scene.
He said: “There is broken glass, fish and chips paper, McDonalds wrappers and more.

“Kudos to the poor people who will have to clean it up at five in the morning.”
