The organisers of the event took to social media yesterday, May 8, to announce the event would not go ahead on June 13 as planned.
They said the decision was due to “a clash with another protest announced this week together with a counter protest scheduled for the same day”.
“As organisers, we feel we will be unable to guarantee the safety of riders, which is our main concern,” they said.
“This was not a decision we took lightly but amongst the committee members we felt we had no choice.”
They added that they “hope to announce a date in the late summer to early Autumn to ride again”.
They said: “We are particularly sad as this will be our 20th ride and we’re looking forward to making it the best yet.
“This can still be the case with your support.”
An event called Carnival Against Fascism on June 13 has been advertised on social media.
A post on Instagram from the organisers reads: “Racists plan to come to our city, calling for ‘mass deportations’.
“Not in our city. This is Brighton. Not here, not anywhere.
“We can all play a part in defending our communities. Join us on the streets to celebrate our resistance to racism and in defence of our city.
“The march of the far right ends here.”
Brighton and Hove Stand Up to Racism has also organised a “counter-protest against the far right in Brighton”, beginning at Brighton Station on June 13 at 11am.
Naked bike rides are held in more than 50 cities worldwide.
Organisers say the ride not only celebrates body positivity but also highlights issues with climate change and the vulnerability of cyclists on the road.
