McKee, who has been MSP for Glasgow Provan since 2016, won the seat with 11,926 votes, with the area having a turnout of 43.02% for the constituency vote.
Following his win, he said he was “very honoured” to be elected and thanked voters for rejecting “those who seek to divide”.
McKee said: “Thanks very much to the voters of Easterhouse and Springburn for putting their trust in me and the SNP on their behalf and for rejecting those who would seek to divide our communities.”
Commenting on what the next five years will look like, he continued: “There was also a very clear message we picked up on the doorsteps from voters which is that they expect us to deliver for them.
“To deliver excellent public services, health, housing, skills and support for communities and deliver a growing economy with opportunity for all.
“This is what the SNP Government has promised and this is what we will rightly be held to account for and this is what the SNP Government will deliver under the leadership of John Swinney as First Minister.
“That is no less than what the people of Easterhouse and Springburn and people across Scotland deserve and that is what we will deliver for them and that is what will build the overwhelming support for independence as a settled will for the people of Scotland.”
McKee said the SNP will focus on delivering public services to prove to the people of Scotland that Scotland can be a successful independent country.
He said: “To do that we need to continue to grow the economy and deliver excellent public services.
“If we do that over the next five years, there’s no doubt the people of Scotland will increasingly see independence as the way forward.”
McKee also said he is “glad to see” the “message” sent to Reform UK across Scotland.
He said: “From what we’ve seen, people are rejecting the divisive message that they are bringing forward and I’m relieved that’s the case.
“They came third in Easterhouse and Springburn and that’s to be welcomed.”
Also standing for Glasgow Easterhouse and Springburn was Scottish Labour’s Paul Sweeney who got 6772 votes, Audrey Dempsey for Reform UK who got 5309 votes and Nicholas Moohan for the Scottish Lib Dems who got 788 votes.
The Scottish Conservatives and Unionist Party’s Josephine McLeod received 706 votes, while Kenneth Nwosu of the Scottish Common Party got 301 votes.
