Kelowna will perform at Buchanan Galleries on Saturday, May 9, with three sets scheduled at 11am, 1pm and 3pm.
The event will take place at the shopping centre’s Busk Stop in front of the flower wall and will raise funds for MND Scotland, the only charity in Scotland dedicated to supporting people affected by motor neurone disease, their families, and friends.
Kathy Murdoch, centre director at Buchanan Galleries, said: “Music has the unique ability to bring people together, which is why we’re excited to welcome Kelowna to Buchanan Galleries for this special live performance.
“Their single, Faith in the Gaffer, is set to be a huge hit as excitement builds ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
“Their performance will bring a fantastic sense of energy and entertainment into the heart of the centre, giving visitors a memorable experience while they shop.”
Kelowna were formed in early 2024 and are made up of Glasgow’s Davy Wilson alongside Paul Mooney, Ian Davy, Simon Amos, and Rory McEwan.
The group have bonded over a shared love of rock and roll and have since released tracks including Raven Lady, Monster, and Faith in the Gaffer, performing live shows across Scotland.
The focus of the day will be Faith in the Gaffer, an anthemic Celtic-folk single written to celebrate the Scotland men’s national football team’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup.
The single also aims to raise awareness and funds for MND Scotland.
Lead singer Davy Wilson, the creative heart of the band, said: “As a rock band from Glasgow, playing at Buchanan Galleries with a song that celebrates the national team and supports MND Scotland means a lot to us.
“Football and music both have this incredible power to bring people together, and this performance is all about sharing that sense of pride, unity and belief ahead of the World Cup.
“Faith in the Gaffer was written to capture that buzz every Scotland fan is feeling right now, so performing it live in the heart of Glasgow is going to be special.
“We can’t wait to get everyone singing, celebrating, and showing a bit of Scottish pride at Buchanan Galleries.”
Mr Wilson began his musical journey on Glasgow’s cabaret scene at the legendary Porters Bar before touring the UK and Ireland with tribute acts such as Motown Brothers and Videostar80s.
All proceeds from the Buchanan Galleries performance will be donated to MND Scotland.
Fans will also be able to buy a download of the single for £1.67, with all funds going directly to the charity.
Lynne Wiseman, fundraising lead at MND Scotland, said: “We could not directly support people in Scotland with MND or fund vital research without the support of our amazing fundraisers.
“We are so grateful to Kelowna for choosing to support MND Scotland with their World Cup song.
“The money raised from the single and events like Buchanan Galleries’s Busk Stop will go a long way to helping make time count for people with MND.”
Since being founded 45 years ago, MND Scotland has provided practical, financial and emotional support to anyone affected by MND whilst also funding essential research into finding effective treatments and a cure.
Following the live shows at Buchanan Galleries, Kelowna will take part in a walking tour across the city.
More information about the event is available on the Buchanan Galleries website.
