The court heard he was “engaging positively with Probation at present”
A Dunmurry man who admitted stealing jackets valued at just over £2,000 was told on Thursday that he will be sentenced for the offence in June.
Paul Gerard Shields appeared in the dock of Belfast Crown Court where he was charged with the theft.
After confirming his identify to a court clerk, the 40-year old from Almond Drive was charged that on June 13, 2024 he stole nine Rab jackets valued at £2.085 from the Cotswold Outdoors store on Belfast’s Boucher Crescent.
When asked how he pleaded to the charge, Shields replied “guilty”.
After he admitted the theft, a second charge of going equipped for theft was left on the court books by the Crown, not to be proceeded with.
Solicitor Eoghan McKenna then told Judge Mark Reel that “quite an amount has happened” since June 2024 and that Shields had been “dealt with for a considerable numbers of matters subsequently.”
Mr McKenna added his client was “engaging positively with Probation at present.”
Judge Reel ordered an updated Pre Sentence Report be compiled and told Shield he would sentence him on June 5, when he was told to return to court.
