A road closure is currently in place on Argyle Street under the railway bridge as repair work continues on the damaged main, which also caused flooding at Glasgow Central Low Level on Wednesday.
There are lane alterations on surrounding streets, and motorists and local residents are being urged to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys and follow diversion signs in the area.
In a statement, Scottish Water said: “Due to ongoing repair work on a burst water main near Glasgow Central Station, a road closure is currently in place on Argyle Street under the railway bridge.
“As part of these works, there are also lane alterations on surrounding streets. Motorists and local residents are advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys, and follow all on-site signage.
“At this stage, we do not have a confirmed timeline for the completion of the repairs, but updates will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
“Scottish Water apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks everyone for their patience and understanding while essential repairs are carried out.”
