Dixon Avenue was shut down yesterday, with bomb disposal officers, police, firefighters and paramedics called after a suspected fireworks blast around 12.15pm on Thursday, April 23.
The boys were taken by ambulance to the Royal Hospital for Children with serious injuries to their hands and eyes, and an item believed to be a firework was removed from the scene by explosive ordnance disposal specialists.
Nearby homes and businesses were evacuated and several surrounding streets, including Dixon Avenue at Cathcart Road, Garturk Street, Allison Street and Belleisle Street, were closed while enquiries were carried out.
Police have now confirmed the scene has been stood down and roads have reopened, saying: “The incident in the Dixon Avenue area of Crosshill has now been stood down.
“The cordon has been removed, and all roads have been reopened.
“Thank you to the public for your patience.”
