Police say two males were seen trying to set fire to the door of a property on Crawford Street in Partick around 1.55 am on Thursday, April 23, before they were disturbed and ran off.
A short time later, there was a further attempt to start a fire at a property on nearby Dumbarton Road, though no one was injured at either address.
Officers are treating both incidents as attempted wilful fire-raising, and enquiries are underway to trace those responsible.
The first suspect is described as male, in his mid-to-late teens, wearing a grey jumper, while the second is also thought to be in his mid-to-late teens, wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
Detective Inspector Jonny MacKinnon said: “This was a reckless, dangerous act which could have had far worse consequences. Luckily no-one was injured but we need to trace those responsible.”
He added: “I’m appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Were you in the area at the time and see anyone acting suspiciously? Do you have private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage which has captured anything significant? If you can help, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0231 of April 23, 2026, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
