Scottish Water announced that it was aware that a pipe that carries pressurised wastewater had burst under a grass verge at the junction of Auchenhowie Road and Finlay Rise on Friday, April 3.

Following this, tankers have been managing wastewater levels in the Milngavie area while machinery and materials are assembled to carry out the repair.

To facilitate repairs, part of Auchenhowie Road between Finlay Rise and Glasgow Road will have to be completely shut.

The closure will be in place from Tuesday, April 7, for around one week.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: ”Unfortunately, this will require the full closure of a section of Auchenhowie Road between Finlay Rise and Glasgow Road.

“We are aware how busy the road is and that it is a key route for people living in Bearsden and Milngavie.

“Everything will be done to carry out the work as quickly as safety allows, and we would like to thank everyone affected for their patience and understanding.”

A diversion will be in place along Boclair Road, Milngavie Road, and Glasgow Road.

Drivers are asked to follow all signs and allow extra time for their journeys.
