Ex-Special Sergeant Martin Webb was charged with dangerous driving in relation to a collision involving a car and a marked police vehicle being driven by Mr Webb in Brighton on April 28, 2024.
The charge was authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following an investigation by the force’s Roads Policing Unit, however, the case was later withdrawn.
On closure of the criminal procedures, Sussex Police’s Professional Standards Department completed an investigation to determine whether there was a case to answer for misconduct, as is standard procedure.
Following an assessment of the available evidence, no case to answer was found for misconduct. Mr Webb, who resigned from the force in September 2024, has been updated of this decision.
