Emergency services, including armed police, were called to New Parade in Worthing, at around 3.20pm on Thursday (March 5), following the report of a stabbing.

A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. He is in a stable condition, Sussex Police said.

A 25-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested for assault occasioning grievous bodily harm and a 31-year-old man, from Worthing, has been arrested for assisting an offender.

Detective Inspector Chris May said: “Two men have been arrested in relation to this incident.

“This is an active investigation and we encourage anyone who witnessed the incident or who has relevant information, such as CCTV or mobile footage, to contact us.

“There will be patrols in the area for reassurance, and people are encouraged to stop and talk to officers.”
