Parents across the borough found out yesterday (March 2) which secondary school their child has been offered a place as part of National Secondary School Offer Day.
Families were told of their child’s Year 7 placement for September. Offers were sent by email to those who applied online, while letters are posted to applicants who completed a paper form.
Parents must then accept or decline the offer by the deadline stated in their notification. Those who are unhappy with their allocated school have the right to appeal or join waiting lists.
Ahead of the new intake, data from the Department for Education (DfE) has revealed how secondary schools in Bromley are performing at GCSE level.
The figures are based on Attainment 8 scores, which measure the average achievement of pupils across eight qualifications.
These include English and maths (which are double weighted), three English Baccalaureate (EBacc) subjects such as sciences, computer science, history, geography and languages, and three additional approved qualifications.
Schools are ranked by their Attainment 8 score.
However, a school’s score does not necessarily reflect its overall quality, as factors such as selectivity, intake ability and cohort size can all influence results.
