The annual gas bill of a typical household will reduce by about £80 per year
A leading energy provider in Northern Ireland has announced a reduction in gas prices.
SSE Airtricity Gas has confirmed a reduction of 8.10% on their regulated gas tariffs for domestic and small business customers. This will be effective in both the Greater Belfast and West gas network areas, from 1 April 2026.
This tariff decrease means the annual gas bill of a typical household in the Greater Belfast and West gas networks with a credit meter, will reduce by about £80 per year. For those customers with a prepayment gas meter (PAYG), they will see their typical costs reduce by around £79.

This decrease will be greatly welcomed by approximately 215,000 domestic and small business SSE Airtricity gas customers on the back of an 8.47% tariff reduction in October 2025.
Raymond Gormley, Head of Energy Policy at the Consumer Council said: “This SSE Airtricity gas tariff decrease is good news, as it indicates a gradual downward curve in wholesale energy prices. However, the energy market does continue to remain volatile due to ongoing global geopolitical concerns.
“The Consumer Council works closely with the Utility Regulator and regulated supply companies, to ensure that any cost savings are passed onto consumers quickly when wholesale energy prices begin to decrease. We also help protect and support consumers during energy price increases.
“Although gas prices are slowly coming down, we would urge anyone who is struggling to pay their energy bills or top-up their meters to contact their supplier directly for help and support.”
