A man and woman were struck by a car which failed to stop at the scene

A road in Co Antrim will be closed for a number of hours on Thursday evening while police carry out scene testing following a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian.

The incident took place on Friday, August 15, 2025, on the Ballyeaston Road in Ballyclare.

Shortly before 10:35pm it was reported that two pedestrians, one male and one female were struck by a car which failed to stop at the scene.

The male, aged in his 50s sadly died as a result of his injuries. The female, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital for her injuries.

One male was arrested in respect of the collision and later released on bail.

In a statement on Thursday morning, a PSNI spokesperson said: “Road users are advised that Ballyeaston Road, Ballyclare, will be closed from its junction at the Lower Ballyboley Road to its junction with Victoria Road, from 9.30pm this evening, Thursday 5th February, to 1am on Friday 6th February.

“This is in order to facilitate scene testing as part of an ongoing investigation into a fatal collision which occurred in the area on Friday 15th August, 2025.

“Please seek an alternative route for your journey where possible. We would like to thank the public for their patience as this testing is carried out.”
