A programme of maintenance and resurfacing works will affect parts of the M25 and the Dartford Crossing from Friday, January 9 to Monday, January 12, including tunnels, junction slip roads, and the QEII Bridge.

The Dartford Crossing, which includes the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge and two tunnels, connects Kent and Essex and is one of the busiest roads in the country.

National Highways has urged motorists to check live travel updates, follow diversion routes, and allow extra time for their journeys.

The closure schedule begins with the west tunnel at the Dartford Crossing, which will be shut northbound from 10pm on Friday, January 9 until 5.30am on Saturday, January 10.

The Jct 1B roundabout carriageway, entry slip road, and the Jct 2 to Jct 1B northbound link road will also close from 11pm on Friday until 6am on Saturday.

Diversions will be in place via the National Highways network and local authority routes.

Closures will continue on Saturday, January 10, with the west tunnel closed northbound again from 10pm until 5am on Sunday, January 11.

The Jct 1B roundabout, entry slip road, and the Jct 2 to Jct 1B link road northbound will also be closed from 10pm on Saturday until 6am on Sunday.

On Sunday, January 11, the east tunnel will be closed northbound from 10pm until 5am on Monday, January 12.

Vehicles taller than 4.8 metres will not be able to use the crossing during this time.

Additional closures on Sunday night include the Jct 1B roundabout, entry slip road, and the Jct 2 to Jct 1B link road northbound from 10.30pm until 5.30am on Monday.

All closures are for planned maintenance and resurfacing work.

Motorists travelling northbound across the Dartford Crossing are advised to plan ahead and expect delays.

The overnight works are part of ongoing efforts to maintain the safety and reliability of this critical transport route.

National Highways has reminded road users to stay up to date with live traffic information through its website or social media channels.

The west tunnel will be closed on both Friday and Saturday nights.

Traffic will be diverted via the National Highways road network.

Closures around Junction 1B—including the entry slip road and northbound link from Junction 2—will also begin at 11pm on Friday and reopen at 6am on Saturday.
