An investigation is now underway
A person has died following a flat fire in Westgate-on-Sea. The blaze broke out in Westgate Bay Avenue at around 5.55am this morning (December 12).
Five fire engines and a height vehicle attended and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, used hose reel and main jets to extinguish the fire. An investigation has been launched.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) spokesperson said: “Firefighting operations are now complete at the scene of a flat fire in Westgate Bay Avenue, Westgate on Sea. Sadly, one person died.
“Another person was taken to hospital for further medical treatment. An investigation into the cause is underway.”
