East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to the first incident, which was a fire at a property in Seaside, Eastbourne at 20.36pm on Saturday.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire with one hose reel jet, the gas and electrics were isolated.
The fire service confirmed that South East Coast Ambulance service were in attendance for one person.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will be undertaken.
South East Coast Ambulance Service has been approached for comment.

There was a reported third incident in Barcombe Close, Eastbourne but it was a false alarm.
