Dartford, 25 July 2025  — Cllr Avtar Sandhu MBE, recently held his much-anticipated annual summer barbeque event in Dartford. Despite challenging weather conditions, the event attracted a strong turnout of local councillors, business leaders, and dignitaries, creating an atmosphere of unity and active community engagement.

The guest of honour, Rt Hon Louie French MP, Shadow Minister for Sport & Culture, actively participated in discussions focusing on vital local concerns such as youth engagement in sport, the ongoing voting age debate, and the importance of grassroots leadership. Mr French also addressed how first-time councillors can effectively connect with their communities to better understand and respond to local issues.

The event was further honoured by the presence of Dartford Mayor Peter Whapshott and Dartford Council Leader Jeremy Kite, both of whom addressed attendees and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting local initiatives and encouraging inclusive participation across the borough.

Also joining the conversation were distinguished guests including Rags Sandhu, Bexley Councillor and Partha Sarathi Panda, Chairman of the Gravesend Conservative Party Association. Their involvement highlighted strong regional collaboration and support.

Gathered over traditional barbeque fare, the participants exchanged ideas on fostering youth leadership, expanding grassroots sports and cultural programmes, and amplifying the Conservative Party’s positive impact at the local level.

As the event drew to a close, attendees left inspired and united, underscoring the importance of community-driven initiatives in building a resilient, inclusive future for Dartford and its neighbouring communities.
