Strutt & Parker has bolstered its national country house department with the appointments of James Machell and James Robinson, who bring almost 40 years of combined experience in the prime and country property market.

Machell joins from Savills as a director and will focus on East Hampshire and South Surrey, reinforcing the firm’s established presence in the Home Counties. He will work closely with Jordan Sturgess, who came on board earlier this year and is covering the Ascot-to-Epsom corridor on the edge of Greater London. Machell previously played a key role in expanding Savills’ market share in West Sussex while based in the Petworth office.

Robinson, formerly of Knight Frank, returns to Strutt & Parker as a senior associate director. He will be responsible for growing the country house department’s reach across the Midlands. This marks a homecoming for Robinson, who began his career with the firm in its Kensington office.

Oliver Custance Baker, head of the national country house department, commented: “Both [Machell and Robinson] bring an impressive track record and a fantastic knowledge in their respective markets, making them valuable additions to our team. Their appointments reflect our ongoing commitment to delivering best-in-class advice and service to our clients, wherever they are in the country.”

Neale said: “Haringtons has built its name on discretion, integrity and trusted advice — values I share wholeheartedly and have built my own career around.
