Officers were called to Kent Road near St Vincent Street in Glasgow at around 4.45am this morning (June 7) following a report of a man causing a disturbance. 

Several roads near the Mitchell Library were closed to the public this morning while police dealt with the incident.

They have now confirmed a 46-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and an investigation remains ongoing. 

There were no injuries and police say there was no threat to the wider public as a result of the incident. 

The Glasgow Times reported earlier today Berkeley Street at North Street, Granville Street at Sauchiehall Street, Kent Road from North Street to Elderslie Street, Cleveland Street and Cleveland Lane in Finnieston were closed by the police.

Members of the public were asked to avoid the area while the incident was ongoing and police have thanked them for their patience. 

The Mitchell Library was unable to open as normal at 9am due to the incident but is now fully open to the public.
