St Lawrence & Highland Court got off the mark in the Kent League Premier Division at the second attempt with a 12-run home win over Sandwich Town on Saturday.
Former Minster batsman Dan Stickels (128), supported by Kent teenager Oliver Curtiss’ 50, led them to 249-7 from 50 overs despite wickets for opening bowler Alex Smith (2-27) and Rory Smith (2-63).
In reply, captain Zack Fagg and opening batsman Sidney Thomson, with 75 and 70, respectively, got them close. But Sam Ireland (5-43) starred for St Lawrence in the field.
Lordswood made it two wins from two this summer as they edged to a 13-run home triumph over Bexley.
Linden Lockhart (100), supported by Bradley Goldsack (66) and Joe Gordon (52), guided them to 335-6 from 50 overs despite opening bowler Harry Dowling’s 3-54.
Aiden Griggs with 110 was supported well by George Haley (51) and Matthew Stiddard (50), only for Gordon (3-45) and Will Straker (3-62) to do just enough.
It was a similar story for Tunbridge Wells, who were six-wicket home winners against Minster.
Wicketkeeper Jason Van Dyk’s 57 led Minster to 160 all out, Michael Waller (4-34) doing well with the ball.
Opening Tunbridge Wells batsman Viraj Bhatia then offered an unbeaten 83 as Wells got home in the 36th over.
Hayes also made it two wins from two and sit top of the league, beating Holmesdale by six wickets.
Leo Carter’s 139 off 124 balls saw Holmesdale to 342-8 from 50 overs as Aaron Burrage (3-68) did well.
Burrage (111), supported by skipper Alex Blake’s unbeaten 72 from 53 balls, guided them across the line despite Ben Fawcitt returning 2-27.
Burrage had shared a 170-run opening stand with Finnan Bryan (75).
Bromley were two-wicket home winners against Blackheath.
George Wells struck 81 in Blackheath’s 240-6 from 50 overs as Oliver Butterfill (2-52) got among the wickets.
In reply, Butterfill and wicketkeeper Ollie Street – with 84 not out and 59, respectively – got them home despite former Kent bowler Arafat Bhuiyan (3-51) doing well.
