Tell us about The Bible Chat

The Bible Chat was born during a personal crossroads in my life. At 30, I hit a deep depression that completely changed my trajectory. Around the same time, I realised AI was becoming the next big wave in tech innovation.

I started looking for areas where AI could make a real difference in overlooked spaces. The spiritual realm immediately jumped out at me. Our earlier reading app had shown us something fascinating – the Bible was consistently our most engaged book by a huge margin.

This wasn’t just about business potential. Having navigated my own spiritual journey during that tough period, I saw firsthand how powerful scripture could be when made accessible and personalised.

We launched our parent company Soulstream AI in 2019 with a broader reading app, but by 2022, we’d fully pivoted to Bible Chat. The timing was perfect – we were developing before ChatGPT launched, which allowed us to create AI specifically designed for spiritual exploration rather than simply tacking AI onto religious content.

Today, Bible Chat helps over 5 million monthly active users explore scripture through engaging digital experiences while getting biblically-grounded answers to life’s questions. We offer AI-

enhanced biblical content (study plans, devotionals, prayers) and personalised spiritual guidance, all vetted by our Biblical Council to ensure theological integrity.

We’ve grown mostly through word of mouth, becoming the most downloaded faith app globally for six straight months. I like to think we’re doing what the Gutenberg press did centuries ago, democratising access to scripture, except we’re making biblical wisdom interactive, personalised, and instantly available.

What do you think makes this company unique?

What makes us different is how we balance cutting-edge technology with theological depth. We’re preserving the integrity of scripture while creating modern interfaces that make ancient wisdom accessible through today’s technology.

Traditional approaches to scripture often create barriers, whether through complex language, intimidating formats, or difficulty connecting timeless principles to modern challenges. Bible Chat bridges a crucial gap – we’re making ancient wisdom accessible, relevant and personalised for today’s digital world.

Our core insight is pretty simple: while scripture contains wisdom that has guided people for thousands of years, many struggle to apply its teachings to their specific situations. By creating an interface that lets users engage with biblical content through natural conversation and get guidance tailored to their circumstances, we’ve made spiritual exploration more accessible and immediately relevant.

What sets us apart is the balance between innovation and tradition. Our Biblical Council ensures all AI-generated content maintains theological integrity across denominations. This balance allows us to serve both longtime believers and those just beginning to explore faith – all through an interface that feels natural and relevant to everyday life.

How has the company evolved in the last year – since you received funding?

The past 12 months have been a whirlwind. We’ve grown to over 5 million monthly active users and passed 10 million downloads, consistently growing 10-20% month-on-month.

This growth has transformed our organisation. Our team has expanded from a handful of people to about 40 professionals across multiple countries, primarily based in Romania but with growing presence throughout Europe and the UK. We recently closed our £14 million Series A funding round, led by True Ventures, bringing our total raised to £16 million.

One meaningful development has been establishing our charitable foundation, which now operates across Asia, Europe, and the United States – reflecting our commitment to tangible impact beyond just digital engagement.

We’ve achieved significant market recognition, becoming the most downloaded faith application globally. This rapid growth brings both opportunities and challenges, particularly in maintaining our core culture while scaling operations.

Throughout this journey, we’ve been guided by extensive user feedback, theological consultation, and technological advancement, creating an increasingly sophisticated platform that maintains that crucial balance between innovation and spiritual authenticity.

What can we hope to see from The Bible Chat in the future?

We have ambitious plans that go well beyond what we’re doing today. We’re investing heavily in multilingual capabilities, localising the platform across numerous languages with cultural adaptations that respect diverse expressions of faith worldwide.

We’re building strategic partnerships with churches and religious organisations globally, creating an ecosystem where institutional wisdom complements our technological capabilities. These relationships will enhance both our content quality and distribution reach.

Product innovation remains central to our roadmap, with significant new features planned that further personalise the spiritual journey while maintaining our commitment to theological integrity. Our charitable initiatives will expand substantially across all our operational regions.

We’re launching a podcast focused on the most common questions from our community, creating another channel for spiritual exploration. We’re also developing data-driven insights about spiritual wellbeing based on the questions and challenges facing our users.

Throughout all this growth, we remain anchored in our core mission: helping people access spiritual wisdom to navigate life’s challenges. Every initiative serves this purpose, combining technological innovation with timeless wisdom to support meaningful life transformation.
