Pictures show scene of suspected bomb in Littlehampton

Sussex Police and HM Coastguard are currently at the scene at the western end of Littlehampton promenade. 

A section of the seafront has been cordoned off and the nearby beach evacuated. 

Arun District Council is warning the public to avoid the area.

A coastguard vehicle at the scene (Image: Sussex News and Pictures) A spokesman for the council said: “The promenade at Littlehampton beach has been closed temporarily at the western end by the coastguard tower, due to a suspected bomb under the tower.

“The beach has been cleared, and the public toilets are closed.

“Emergency services are on the way. Please stay away from the area.”

Sussex Police and HM Coastguard have been approached for more information.
