Michael McLean, known as Ian McLean Smith, was arrested and charged in connection with alleged indecent online communications.
Police were called to the Chandlers Court area of Stirling regarding the allegation at around 6pm on Tuesday, February 11.
It is understood the 78-year-old was nicked after being caught up in an alleged paedo sting following being confronted by a vigilante group.

Reports have revealed McLean worked as a DJ for Quality FM, a radio station based at Paisley Grammar School in Renfrewshire.
Following the alleged sting, Renfrewshire Council has issued a statement regarding the matter due to the station being based in a school.
They said ‘pupil safety’ is their ‘absolute priority’ and they have ‘robust processes in place’ around any non-staff accessing school property.
The local authority said that they have been made aware of the ‘serious allegations made against an individual volunteer with Quality FM radio station’.

Due to this, the council revealed McLean – who is the accused individual – will have no ‘further access to any school’ and the radio station is in the process of moving out of the building.
He also worked as a stadium announcer for Stranraer FC in Dumfries and Galloway, it has been reported.
Following the alleged incident, the football club released a statement on social media.
The team said they were made aware of ‘serious allegations involving a club volunteer’.
The statement read: “Stranraer FC have been made aware of serious allegations involving a club volunteer.
“The club is taking this matter extremely seriously and has taken immediate action to suspend the individual whilst the police conduct their investigation.
“At this time, we will not be making any further comment.”

A Renfrewshire Council spokesperson said: “Pupil safety is our absolute priority and we have robust processes in place around any non-staff access to school buildings.
“We are aware of allegations against an individual volunteer with Quality FM radio station.
“We can confirm this individual will have no further access to any school and that the radio station is in the process of moving out of the building.
“As the individual is now subject to a police investigation we can’t comment any further.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “A 78-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with alleged indecent online communications.
“Officers were called to the Chandlers Court area of Stirling regarding the allegation around 6pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
“He is expected to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court at a later date.”
