Surely the point is that the wrongs of the past do not alter the fact that it is there and likely to remain so.
I’d far sooner have the West Pier back. It was beautiful. Its neglect and subsequent destruction were very shocking.
However, I like the i360. I admire the way it helps give the seafront west of the Palace Pier a focal point and I especially enjoy the way it is lit at night.
I lived in Brighton for the first eighteen years of my life and now live in Dublin. I come back regularly and observe with despair the erosion of a town I still love. The i360 is for me one of very few positive developments in recent years and I look forward to riding on it again and enjoying the photographic opportunities it offers.
I wish the new owner every success. (No doubt my saying this will attract more rants, but perhaps one or two will be brave enough to agree.)
