Fuel prices rose across the UK in January, with wholesale movements leading to an average pump price increase of 2.9ppl for unleaded and 3.7ppl for diesel, according to Petrolprices.com.
Supermarkets absorbed some of the impact, keeping increases lower at 2.2ppl for both fuels.
Despite a drop in wholesale costs, significant price reductions at the pumps have yet to materialise.
Supermarket fuel prices remain at their highest since January due to purchasing patterns and the delay in passing on savings.
