The 17-year-old was approached while riding his bike along Priory Road, towards Ore, on January 28.

The two men, in dark clothing and balaclavas, were reported to have made threats and demanded the victim’s bike and phone.

One of the men went on to assault the boy, and the other was found to be in possession of a knife.

Fortunately, a member of the public was able to intervene, and the men left the scene empty handed.

Sussex Police described the man holding the weapon as approximately 5ft 7in and wearing a black puffer coat with a fur-lined collar and a balaclava with a Nike tick on the face.

The second was around 5ft 5in, of slim build, and wearing a black coat with the hood up and a balaclava covering his face.

An investigation is taking place and officers urge anyone with any information to contact police on 101.

Reports can be made online or by calling 101, quoting serial 1037 of 28/01.
