It’s been almost four years since Debenhams closed its remaining 142 shops in 2021, with Bromley’s former Debenhams shutting for good on May 15.

Since the former department store shut up shop, the unit has remained unused without another business opening on the site.

Measuring over two storeys, with access to the Glades and Bromley’s Enfield Road, this unit has a lot of promising retail possibilities for any would-be business.

We took to News Shopper’s Facebook page to find out what Bromley residents would like to see unit 262 at The Glades become and here’s what they said:

John Lewis

John Lewis was a popular contender, with 16 locals commenting that they would like to see this former department store unit become a department store once again.

The Range

Following on from this was The Range with 11 locals suggesting that the unit be turned into a Range, with its two floors and escalator access this unit may well be a viable candidate to house this popular homeware store.

An indoor entertainment centre

Some locals suggested that this unit become an entertainment centre for the people of Bromley, with activities like golf, laser tag and darts to entertain crowds young and old, and with so many restaurants nearby this may well make a good choice for the former Debenhams.

A homeless shelter

Several locals also said they felt the large space of the unit would serve well as a homeless shelter for those in Bromley.

B&M

Everyone’s favourite multifunctional variety store, selling everything from garden furniture to sweets, was another popular choice for Bromley locals.

With its size, location and access to a nearby car park, a B&M could be the ideal choice for this vacant unit.
