The Environment Agency has issued 11 flood alerts across East and West Sussex as the county is under a yellow weather warning for rain.
The Upper Ouse is reported as “high and rising between Scaynes Hill and Barcombe” due to rain yesterday, January 26.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “The river should return nearer to normal by Tuesday afternoon.
“There is uncertainty in the forecast, but another period of rain could be possible on Wednesday, which could increase flood risk.

“Some roads may become impassable, including Barcombe Mills Road. Plan to avoid driving through routes vulnerable to flooding.”
It also reported that gardens of properties and the Anchor Inn could be impacted.
Barcombe Mills was impacted by flooding earlier this month.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for “heavy, blustery showers and possible thunderstorms” for East and West Sussex, in place today, January 27, until 10am tomorrow, January 28.
Flood warnings include:
- Climping seafront
- River Adur east branch
- River Mole and its tributaries from Kinnersley Manor to South Hersham
- Rivers Eden and Eden Brook
- River Uck
- Upper Arun
- Upper Ouse
- Upper River Medway
- Western Rother
- Cuckmere River
- River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal
