A driver says a “terrible accident” or fatal injury could have been caused after a steel ball was shot through his car window.
Lawrence Williams was travelling with his wife along the A20 London Road in West Kingsdown – towards the Swanley Interchange – when he heard a “huge bang” followed by shards of glass flying across the back seats.

Fearing someone had fired a gun at his Vauxhall Astra and not knowing if it was safe to stop at the scene, he continued driving along the busy route before pulling over to safety.
The London taxi driver soon discovered a large hole in the nearside rear window and what he described as a 12mm steel ball lying in the back of the vehicle.
He says it could have caused a driver to crash or may have hit someone – even killing a young child.
“There was a huge bang and shards of glass flew inside the car,” the 54-year-old said.
“I ducked and I thought someone had thrown a brick as the bang was that loud.

“It was pitch-black so I couldn’t see anything.”
The dad pulled over further down the road and saw the nearside rear window had smashed, with a “hole from a projectile” in it.
“I thought it was a low-calibre gun or something,” he added.
“I phoned the police as this was seriously dangerous.
“My daughter could have been in the back of the car – or my wife as she sometimes sits there.
“If it had hit me while I was driving, the repercussions would have been quite severe.”
Mr Williams eventually discovered a 12mm steel ball lying in the back of the car. He says he was travelling to pick up one of his children when the incident happened.
“My 17-year-old daughter usually comes with us to pick up my eldest but decided to stay at home,” he said. “Otherwise, she would’ve been sitting in the back on the side of the car when the steel ball came through the window.
“If it had been a baby or child sitting there, it would have been lethal.”
Mr Williams shared the images online to help raise awareness of the incident. “If it had been an inexperienced driver, they would have had a terrible accident,” he added.
A police spokesman says the force was called at about 8.45pm yesterday to a report a car travelling in London Road, West Kingsdown, had been damaged by a ball bearing.
“No injuries were reported and enquiries into the incident are ongoing,” he said.
