The Environment Agency has issued three flood alerts in Sussex ahead of a wet forecast tonight (February 23) into tomorrow morning.

Areas near the River Arun, including Horsham, could be impacted by flooding in gardens and fields.

An Environment Agency notice reads: “Rain is forecast Sunday afternoon, and through the early hours of Monday.

“From 10am on Monday, February 24, flooding could affect gardens of Tanbridge Park and Blackbridge Court, fields behind Arunside, and the playground of Arunside School.

“From 2pm on February 24, flood water will affect isolated mill properties between Broadbridge Heath and Pallingham Quay, including properties at Pallingham Lock and the A272 Newbridge road near Billingshurst.”

An alert has also been issued for Western Rother, including areas near Pulborough.

The notice reads: “Rain is forecast Sunday afternoon, and through the early hours of Monday.

“From 2am on February 24, minor flooding could affect fields, rural roads, and gardens on Station Road Liss and Mill Lane and Old Mill Lane, Sheet.

“From 6am on February 24, minor flooding could also affect gardens in Iping, Stedham, and Midhurst.

“From 12pm on February 24, flood water will approach properties at Lodsbridge, near Selham.

“From 10pm on February 24, flooding could affect properties at Fittleworth Mill, and nearby properties in Fittleworth.

“The Lod could also be affected, near Lickfold Bridge, Highstead Lane and at Halfway Bridge.”

Areas surrounding the River Mole and its tributaries from Kinnersley Manor to South Hersham have also been advised to prepare for flooding, including locations north of Crawley.

The notice reads: “Flooding is forecast to affect locations near the River Mole, with low lying land and roads expected to be most affected, although there may be other areas of minor flooding.

“Take care and avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.

“Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses.”

Met Office weather warnings for rain have been issued in other areas of the country.
