Badreddin Abdalla Adam Bosh attacked and hurt three asylum seekers, two hotel workers, and a police officer at the city’s Park Inn Hotel on June 26, 2020.

Five of those attacked were stabbed and seriously injured.

Police Scotland officers shot and killed Mr Bosh, who was an asylum seeker, during the attack after attempts to use non-lethal weapons failed.

Now, more than four years on from the incident, the Procurator Fiscal has lodged a first notice with the sheriff court to start a Fatal Accident Inquiry (FAI) into the 28-year-old Sudanese man’s death.

A preliminary hearing will take place at Glasgow Sheriff Court on March 11, 2025.

Kenny Donnelly, deputy Crown Agent for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, said: “The Lord Advocate considers that the death of Badreddin Abdalla Adam Bosh occurred in circumstances giving rise to serious public concern.

“The lodging of the First Notice enables FAI proceedings to commence under the direction of the Sheriff.

“An FAI will allow a full public airing of the evidence of the procurator fiscal’s wider investigations with interested parties.

“The evidence will be tested in a public setting and be the subject of an independent judicial determination.

“Mr Bosh’s family will continue to be kept informed of significant developments as court proceedings progress.”

The purpose of an FAI includes determining the cause of death, the circumstances in which the death occurred, and establishing what reasonable precautions could have been taken to minimise the risk of future deaths in similar circumstances.

It follows a thorough and independent investigation by the Procurator Fiscal into the wider circumstances leading to the death of Mr Bosh.

Unlike criminal proceedings, FAIs are inquisitorial and are used to establish facts rather than apportion blame.
