The 41-year-old was found dead at Nettleton Court in Upper Hollingdean Road at around 10am this morning.
Forensics officers have been seen coming out of the block with protective suits on.
They have been putting bags with items from the scene into unmarked police vehicles.
There were at least three of these vehicles parked close to Nettleton Court this afternoon.
A statement from Sussex Police said: “An investigation into the circumstances of his death is underway, and the matter is currently being treated as unexplained.
“Officers have been deployed to the scene as enquiries are ongoing.
“Anyone with information can report online or call 101, quoting Operation Marshgate.”
